The article presents a procedural-semantic model of the development of life competence of personality and characterizes its main components: the level of complexity of life's problematic situations, the degree of understanding of a life problem by personality, types of life tasks and the way they are set by personality, strategies for forming the image of desired result, principal semantic resources of personality.
The author proves that features of the course of cognitive and metacognitive processes of personality cause different configurations of semantic resources of personality, which in turn determines main dimensions of the development of life competence of personality: routine-selective, adaptive, innovative.
It is demonstrated that the presence of only pre-semantic resources in personality determines the routine-selective dimension of the development of its life competence, within which borders personality is able to act efficiently only in basic level’s life situations; understanding of life problems by personality does not take place here; life tasks are set from the outside, determined, and accepted. While forming the image of desired result, personality focuses on past experience.
Formation’s level of semantic resources of personality determines the adaptive dimension of the development of its life competence: a person is able to act efficiently in crisis situations, is aware of life problems, its life tasks are not only accepted from the outside, but also self-determined by personality, and are of undetermined probabilistic nature. While forming the image of desired result, personality is guided by actual situational conditions.
The development of metasemantic resources in personality determines the innovative dimension of the development of its life competence: a person is capable to make an existential choice, reflects life problems, independently sets life tasks that are creative in its nature. The decisive strategy for forming the image of desired result is a temporal consistency, integration of retrospective, current and prospective time plans.
The proposed procedural-semantic model of the development of life competence of personality can serve as a conceptual basis for development of psychological practices and technologies of psychological support of vulnerable population categories during martial law and post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
