Abstract

The relevance of the study is caused by a number of transformations that our country has been going through since its independence - political, economic, social, spiritual, which inevitably cause a change in priorities in the value system of both the younger generation and adults. The article is devoted to the study of value orientations as the basis of a person's lifestyle, through which the individual's attitude towards himself and others, the surrounding world, and the framework of relationships with others are developed. Purpose: to investigate the relationships between value orientations and psychological characteristics of partner relationships in adulthood.
Methods: Basic Values Questionnaire (S. Schwartz), Questionnaire for Studying the Cultural Syndrome "Individualism-Collectivism" (Singelis et al.), Questionnaire "Role expectations and demands in marriage" (A. Volkova's), Questionnaire "Experience of close relationships" (ECR), Short Personality Traits Questionnaire BFI-10.
It has been determined that value orientations constitute a complex multi-level system that encompasses both individual and socio-cultural factors. In the context of partnership relationships, values are not limited to abstract attitudes, but acquire concrete meaning: they shape perceptions of acceptable forms of intimacy, the limits of autonomy, and the level of responsibility of each partner. Qualitatively different psychological vectors of individualistic and collectivist value orientations in the structure of partnership relationships have been established: collectivist orientations are associated with emotional involvement and anxiety in relationships, while individualistic ones are associated with the autonomous organization of partnership interaction. This confirms that the relationship between value orientations and partnership relationships is differentiated and not symmetrical for both types of orientations.
Conclusions. In summary, it can be argued that value orientations are an important, but not the only, predictor of partner relationships. They determine the general framework of interaction, but specific manifestations in relationships depend on individual characteristics, cultural context, and previous experience of the individual.
