Abstract

Based on an analysis of academic sources, this article outlines current trends in the development of choreographic abilities. In particular, it has been established that reflective practices contribute to the effectiveness of learning, the formation of professional identity, and the personal growth of future choreographers.
The research tool “Reflection and Development of Choreographic Abilities (RDCA)” is based on a three-component structure of choreographic abilities, which includes personal, psychomotor, and creative components. The results of the pilot study show that students rate the components of their own choreographic abilities quite highly and demonstrate a willingness to develop specific ones. During the study, particularly during group discussions, students’ reflective field expands, enriched with new categories of self-analysis, laying the groundwork for the development of professional self-efficacy.
Directions for improving the RDCA research tool are described. The results of the correlation analysis provide grounds for reducing the number of assessment constructs included, while new ones can be introduced based on feedback from the participants during group discussions.
Prospects for further research lie in establishing links between RDCA indicators and indicators of professional self-efficacy. The RDCA research tool can be used in practical psychology classes to stimulate the personal and professional development of choreography students.
