PROCESSES WITH PATTERNS OF REFLECTION: SET-THEORETIC DESCRIPTION
Abstract
We present an approach to the psychological study of reflection which is developed on the base of the method of set-theoretic description of processes. The method is designed as a universal instrument for humanitarian perspective. According to it, any object of study is considered as a process and/or its components. To describe processes we use a mathematical tool – functions of sets. Components of functions of sets are modi which are treated as structured sets of elements. With the use of these theoretical units we present a description of the processes, which contain patterns of reflection mastered by a person. Seven types of such processes, one of which is reflection, are identified. A description of patterns of reflection with the use of concepts introduced by various authors, in particular of retrospective, introspective, perspective, component, grouping and integrating reflection, is presented also. The notions of "reflexed modi" and "reflexive representations" are introduced. We show how to use the various kinds of detailing the components of reflection processes – patterns of reflection and reflexed modi. As a result of detailing, the formal descriptions of theoretically possible but not obvious processes of reflection are obtained. Presented theoretical framework could be used to conduct in-depth as well as experimental, researches of reflection in psychology.
